What Are Cliché Plates?
Cliché plates are thin plates made from either metal or photopolymer material. The image to be printed is etched or engraved into the surface of the plate, creating recessed areas that hold the ink during the pad printing process.
As the pad presses onto the plate, it picks up the ink from these etched areas and transfers it onto the product. The accuracy of the engraving, depth of etch, and quality of the plate all directly affect the sharpness, consistency, and longevity of the print.
